Also, with the time pressure in TIME Stories, I would argue that there isn't necessarily a slower pace of play either. There's some puzzle solving, but I wouldn't consider that to incorporate the same skills that Sherlock Holmes uses. There is very little deduction in TIME Stories. I would argue that TIME Stories isn't necessarily the best fit for what they want. I'm confused as to why you keep insisting that this is related to Shut Up and Sit Down. Of course, that might have nothing to do with why the OP is not interested. ![]() I can see how someone might consider there to not be enough bang for your buck in TIME Stories to buy it. I really can't justify buying a game like that, and I don't know if I could justify continually buying the expansions as well to keep playing it. It becomes a little tedious to go through things again that you've already seen, so really, in my opinion, TIME Stories offers even less play time (more like 1-2 hours), at least for me and my group. In Sherlock, at least, you're running through the case once so every time you go somewhere, you're reading something different. The fun was really in exploring the world, but after you've seen most of the stuff, it's just running through the motions to finish in time. That's not an insignificant thing to consider when you're buying a game, especially considering that Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective is often cheaper than TIME Stories.Īlso, I've played TIME Stories, and while it was fun, my (and my group's) enjoyment steadily declined after the first game (and all but plummeted after the second). ![]() TIME Stories comes with 1 case that you can play for maybe ~3-4 hours, compared to Sherlock's ~10-20 hours of game time. ![]() Sherlock Holmes comes with 10 cases that are each ~1-2 hours long. To be fair, there's a pretty significant discrepancy between Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective and TIME Stories. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
